DAY 1 RECAPS:
Game 1 Dorsey (CA) vs. Silverado (NV)
Silverado used a 13 to 2 run in the second half to break open a tight game to win 68 to 56 in the opening game of the tournament. The Dons of Dorsey were led in scoring by senior forward Jordan Mackie with 18pts. while Lonnie Biggs and Brian Stewart each added 12pts. The Skyhawks were led in scoring by Wade Collie with a game high 32pts. Dorsey will play Marshall in the consolation quarterfinals.
Game 2 Mojave (NV) vs. Marshall (OR)
The Rattlers of Mojave used a 23 to 10 second quarter run to extend a three point first quarter lead to eighteen and never looked back as Mojave advances to the championship quarterfinals with a 77 to 55 victory. Mojave is a perfect 9 and 0 in the three years of the tournament’s existence. The Marshall Minutemen were led in scoring by Mitch Beckwith with 26pts. Mojave’s Anthony Marshall led all scorers with 32pts and Brandon Birdsong added 15pts in the first round win. Mojave will Play Silverado in championship quarterfinal action tomorrow.
Game 3 Spring Valley (NV) vs. Tampa Catholic (FL)
Spring Valley and Tampa Catholic battled throughout as the Grizzlies continued to stretch their lead throughout winning all four quarters to earn the 63 to 49 win over the Crusaders from Florida. Spring Valley had four players in double figures led by Justin Omogun with 16pts. Ian Ham led Tampa Catholic with 15pts. while James St. Marc added 10pts. in the first round loss. The Grizzlies will move on to play Chaparral in round two of the Amare Stoudemire Each 1 Teach 1 National Invitational Tournament.
Game 4 Roosevelt (CA) vs. Chaparral (NV)
Roosevelt was held scoreless for about the first 10 minutes of action as Chaparral raced to a 23 point lead at halftime. The Rough Riders would not come back as they were defeated by the Cowboys of Chaparral 59 to 16 in the first round game. Chaparral was led in scoring by LeAndre Dunbar with 12pts in a team balanced effort. Roosevelt was led in scoring by Mark Fields with 6pts.
Game 5 Cheyenne (NV) vs. Ribet Academy (CA)
The defending Nevada state runner up, Cheyenne, got out to a 26 to 11 first quarter lead and never looked back as they defeated the Fightin’ Frogs of Ribet Academy 85 to 56. Chris Mc Call led the Desert Shields in scoring with a 26pt effort. Demetric Williams added 16pts. in the win. Jon Conley had 26pts and Danovan Price chipped in with 16pts in the losing effort for Ribet who will play Oakland Tech in a California showdown in the consolation bracket.
Game 6 Canyon Springs (NV) vs. Oakland Tech (CA)
Canyon Springs used a 17 to 4 third quarter to break open a one point game at halftime to win the first round game at Durango HS 67 to 53. The Pioneers had four players in double figures led by Chris Willis and Terrance Stanley who had 14pts. apiece. Wesley Hanspard and Devin Crear had 12pts each to lead the Bulldogs of Oakland Tech. Canyon Springs will move on to play Cheyenne in a championship quarterfinal in 2nd round action.
Game 7 Rancho (NV) vs. Canyon Country (CA)
In one of the better games in first round action Canyon Country hit two free throws with 6 seconds to go to defeat the Rams of Rancho HS by a score of 82 to 78. The Cowboys of Canyon Country were led in scoring by Mike Edwards with 20 pts. while Jonathan Lawson added 15 pts to the winning effort. The Rams, a late substitution for Miami Senior who dropped out at the last minute, were led by Bynum who had a game high 31 pts. and Dominguez who had 18pts. Rancho will face Mission Secondary in second round consolation action.
Game 8 Durango (NV) vs. Mission Secondary (Canada)
The Blazers of Durango used a 31 to 5 second quarter run to blow out a close first quarter to lead 45 to 12 at the break. Mission Secondary could not recover as Durango ended up winning the game 80 to 24 against the Roadrunners from British Columbia. Durango was led in scoring by Dario Jokic with 23 pts., all in the first half. Jason Dhaliwal led Mission Secondary with 7pts. in the loss. The host school, Durango, will play Canyon Country in the 4th championship quarterfinal of the Amare Stoudemire Each 1 Teach 1 National Invitational Tournament.
DAY 2 RECAPS: Second Round Match Ups
Game 9 Dorsey (CA) vs. Marshall (OR)
Dorsey had a dominate second half to open up a close game and win convincingly 68 to 36 over Marshall in the first consolation quarterfinal of the day. The Dons were led by Brian Stewart and Jordan Mackie with 16 and12 points respectfully. The Minutemen were again led by Mitch Beckwith with 17 points. Marshall will face Roosevelt HS in third round action.
Game 10 Roosevelt (CA) vs. Tampa Catholic (FL)
In a competitive morning match up Tampa Catholic used 21 points from Ian Ham to beat the Rough Riders from Fresno 63 to 54. The Crusaders had David Gonzales, Trai Donaldson, and Austin Aikens each score 11 points help Tampa Catholic’s cause. Roosevelt had three people in double figures led by Mark Fields with 21 points. Edward Fernandez added 14 points but it wasn’t enough. Tampa Catholic will play Dorsey in the consolation semifinals.
Game 11 Silverado (NV) vs. Mojave (NV)
Silverado and Mojave played an excellent quarterfinal game that went down to the wire. Mojave was called for an intentional foul with the score tied with under ten seconds remaining. Silverado cashed in as the player made the basket and made 2 free throws to seal the game. Anthony Marshall’s 30 foot three point shot make at the buzzer wasn’t enough as Silverado gets the 66 to 65 championship quarterfinal win. The Skyhawks were led by James Lata with 19 points while Wade Collie had 13 points in the victory. Marshall had 25 points while Kevin James scored 18 points for the Rattlers. Silverado advances to play Spring Valley in the first Championship Semifinal.
Game 12 Chaparral (NV) vs. Spring Valley (NV)
Spring Valley erased a 16 point deficit between the second and third quarters to defeat Chaparral in the championship quarterfinal match up 64 to 52. Jesse Chippoletti led the charge for the Grizzlies with 16 points which included a 12 for 15 free throw line performance. Anton Stallworth added 14 points for Spring Valley. Jerome Young had 13 points and Jermaine Neal chipped in with 10 points for the Cowboys. Chaparral will play Mojave in third round action.
Game 13 Ribet Academy (CA) vs. Oakland Tech (CA)
Oakland Tech was up early in the contest but Ribet Academy fought hard to get within two points at the break. From there it was nip and tuck the whole way as the Bulldogs sneaked out with a 50 to 46 win over the Fightin’ Frogs. Tech was led by Wesley Hanspard with 17 points and Richard Boston who added 11 points. Ribet’s Jon Conley had 15 points while Mike Lewiskin had 14 points in the second round loss. Oakland Tech moves on to the consolation semifinals to face our Canadian friends from Mission Secondary.
Game 14 Rancho (NV) vs. Mission Secondary (Canada)
Mission Secondary held Rancho to two first quarter points to help achieve their 11 point half time lead. The Roadrunners from there extended the lead and didn’t look back as they pulled out a 53 to 44 win in the second round consolation game. Mission Secondary was led by Nakai Luyken with 14 points while Josh Kunz and Jason Dhaliwal added 11 and 10 points respectfully. The Rams were led by Cammack with 11 points. Rancho will now face Ribet Academy in the third round consolation game.
Game 15 Cheyenne (NV) vs. Canyon Springs (NV)
In the best second round game of the day Cheyenne and Canyon Springs battled in an overtime game that saw Canyon Springs escape with the two point win over the Desert Shields 60 to 58. Cheyenne had a chance to win but was call for an offensive foul with a couple of ticks of the clock left. The Pioneers made one of two free throws and then stole the inbounds pass to end the game. Mikey Thompson had a team high 15 points including half of the points in the overtime session. Terrance Stanley contributed 13 points for the Pioneer cause. Cheyenne was led by Jaylen Henry with a game high 20 points. Demetric Williams had 13 points in the championship quarterfinal loss. Canyon Springs will face the host Durango in the championship Semifinal.
Game 16 Durango (NV) vs. Canyon Country (CA)
Durango raced out to a 40 to 23 halftime lead but the Cowboys of Canyon Country fought back to cut the lead to nine at the end of three quarters. The Blazers did hold on for the 68 to 57 win in the last championship quarterfinal. Durango was led in scoring by Marcus Falley with a game high 20 points. Greg Gentry added 12 points for the Blazers. Mike Edwards led the Cowboys with 12 points while Joe Real had 10 points. Canyon Country will face Cheyenne in a fifth place semifinal game.
DAY 2 RECAPS: Third Round Match Ups
Game 17 Roosevelt (CA) vs. Marshall (OR)
Marshall’s Mitch Beckwith scored 21 of a tournament high 38 pts. in the first half as the Minuteman won their first game of the tournament with a 72 to 49 victory. Lavascia Meyers added 13 pts for Marshall. Dupree Snowden had a team high 11 pts. while Mark Fields chipped in with 9pts. for Roosevelt. The Rough Riders will meet up with Rancho in final round action.
Game 18 Dorsey (CA) vs. Tampa Catholic (FL)
Dorsey led throughout in the one sided affair as the took a 24 to 10 first quarter lead and kept on going from there as they got the 81 to 32 third round win in the Amare Stoudemire Each 1 Teach 1 National Invitational. Lee Lark led all scorers with 16 points while Billy Glenn had 14 points for the Dons. D. J. Williams had 7 points to lead Tampa Catholic. The Crusaders will face Mission Secondary in final round action.
Game 19 Chaparral (NV) vs. Mojave (NV)
The Rattlers used a 20 to 8 second quarter to take command of the third round game to win 67 to 44. Mojave advances to the fifth place game. Mojave was led by UNLV bound Anthony Marshall with 27 points. Jerome Young had 11 points for Chaparral and Chris Goodloe had 8 to pace the Cowboys. Chaparral will face Cheyenne in their final round game.
Game 20 Silverado (NV) vs. Spring Valley (NV)
In the first semifinal game Silverado used a 27 point performance by Wade Collie to advance to the championship game. The Skyhawks used a 40 to 29 second and third quarter advantage to break open a close game early to win 75 to 65. Isaiah Simmons added 15 points for Silverado. Justin Omogun and Jesse Chippaletti had 20 and 18 points respectfully for the Grizzlies. Spring Valley will play league foe Durango in the third place game.
Game 21 Ribet Academy (CA) vs. Rancho (NV)
Ribet Academy raced out to a 22 to 10 first quarter lead but by the end of three Rancho held the a two point lead. In a back and forth battle in the fourth quarter Ribet ends up with the victory by the slimmest of margins 63 to 62. Danovan Price led all scorers with 23 points and John Conley had 19 to help the Fightin’ Frogs win there first game in the tournament. The Rams were led by Byron Bynum with 14 points while Fabian Dominguez had 12 points. Ribet Academy will face Marshall in their final game.
Game 22 Oakland Tech (CA) vs. Mission Secondary (Canada)
Tech used a 19 to 7 second quarter to break open the game as they went on to defeat Mission Secondary 72 to 50 in the second consolation semifinal. The Bulldogs were led by Wesley Hansperd with 20 points and Richard Boston chipped in with 17 points to pace the team from Oakland. The Roadrunners were led by Nakai Luyken with 17 points. Oakland Tech will face Dorsey in the consolation championship.
Game 23 Cheyenne (NV) vs. Canyon Country (CA)
In a highly competitive third round game Cheyenne used an 18 to 8 third quarter to erase a 1 point halftime deficit to win the close game 65 to 62. The Desert Shields were led by Jaylen Henry with 12 points while J’quon Wroten and Demetric Williams each had 11 points. Canyon Country was led by Mike Edwards with a game high 21 points and Brandon Perry had 19 points for the Cowboys. The Cowboys will Face Mojave in final round action.
Game 24 Durango (NV) vs. Canyon Springs (NV)
Canyon Springs used a 30 to 14 second and third quarter run to help propel the Pioneers into the championship game by winning the second semifinal 58 to 45. Chris Willis scored a team high 18 points while Terrance Stanley had 13 points for the victors. Marcus Falley had 19 points for the Durango Blazers. The Pioneers will play the Skyhawks of Silverado in the Amare Stoudemire Each 1 Teach 1 National Invitational.
DAY 3 RECAPS: Final Round Match Ups
Game 25 Mission Secondary (Canada) vs. Tampa Catholic (FL)
Nakai Luyken of Mission Secondary scored 15pts. to lead the Roadrunners to an 11th place finish in final round action. Luyken also received all tournament honors. Josh Kronstrom, Anil Sharma, Josh Kunz, and Jason Dhaliwal all chipped in six points in the victory. The Tampa Catholic Crusaders were led by all tournament team member Ian Ham with 11 points.
Game 26 Roosevelt(CA) vs. Rancho (NV)
The Rancho Rams used an 18 to 8 second quarter to take control of the game and coast to the 59 to 43 victory in the 4th and final round of the National Invitational tournament. A Boncher and K. Plasensra led the Rams with 12 and 10 points respectfully for their first win of the tournament. The Rough Riders of Roosevelt were led by Dupree Snowden with 12 points.
Game 27 Canyon Country (CA) vs. Mojave (NV)
In a tight game throughout Canyon Country had chances to tie as Mojave missed free throws down the stretch. The Cowboys had the ball for the final minute of regulation but couldn’t get their shots to fall as the Rattlers escape with the low scoring 41 to 38 victory. All tournament and UNLV signee Anthony Marshall had a team high 16 points. The Cowboys were led by all tournament member Brandon Perry with 16 points while Mike Edwards added 9 points. Mojave takes fifth place with the win.
Game 28 Ribet Academy (CA) vs. Marshall (OR)
The Minutemen of Marshall used a key 18 to 7 third quarter advantage along with key free throw makes at the end to take 13th place in the Amare Stoudemire Each 1 Teach 1 National Invitational tournament. Marshall was led by all tournament Mitch Beckwith with 31 points in the victory. All tournament member Jon Conley had 24 points for Ribet Academy. Donavon Price also helped the Fightin’ Frogs with 20 points in the final round game.
Game 29 Dorsey (CA) vs. Oakland Tech (CA)
In the consolation championship game Oakland Tech got out to an eleven point halftime lead and fought off the comeback attempt by Dorsey to claim the consolation championship with a hard fought 59 to 54 win. Richard Boston led Bulldogs with a team high 17 points while all tournament member Wesley Hanspard scored 12 points. Lee Lark led the Dons with a game high 18 points while all tournament member Jordan Mackey had 15 points in the 4th round game.
Game 30 Cheyenne (NV) vs. Chaparral (NV)
Chaparral’s three first quarter points was too hard to come back from as Cheyenne won the 7th place game in the tournament with a 71 to 52 victory. All tournament member Demetric Williams led the Desert Shields with 18 points. The Cowboys were led by Robert Porter and All Tournament member Jerome Young with 11 points each.
Game 31 Durango (NV) vs. Spring Valley (NV)
All tournament team member Jesse Chipoletti’s 30 points was just a bit too much as Spring Valley takes third place with a 54 to 53 win. Durango had multiple opportunities to win but could not cash in. The Trailblazers missed two free throws with two seconds on the clock that could have won the game of forced overtime. Dario Jokic had 15 points while Devin Matthews added 10 points for Durango.
Game 32 Silverado (NV) vs. Canyon Springs (NV)
In a great championship game Silverado used a fourth quarter run to stretch out what was a real close game throughout three quarters. Silverado had a seven point lead with around 12 seconds to play but a three point shot make by Canyon Springs along with a Skyhawk foul and two free throw makes by the Pioneers cut the lead to two with 3 seconds remaining. The ball was inbounded and Canyon Springs could not get the foul in time as Silverado is the 2008 Amare Stoudemire Each 1 Teach 1 National Invitational Tournament champions. All Tournament member James Lata scored a game high 24 points while Wade Collie had 21 points along with a great 7 of 8 free throw performance in the fourth quarter. Canyon Springs was led by Chris Willis with 17 points. Jeremy Alexander also had 14 points for the Pioneers.
