Recruiting News: Lacey ready for the AAU season

by Jason Jordan

Back in early February, a knee injury sidelined Butler High (Huntsville, Ala.) combo guard Trevor Lacey for the rest of the season. Now he’s looking to make up for lost time on the AAU circuit, running alongside Winter Park (Fla.) guard Austin Rivers on Each One Teach One out of Florida.

We chatted with Lacey, a junior, to clear up stories of rumored leaders, have him weigh in on where he feels he stands in the rankings, and much more.

HSH: So who are you running with on the AAU circuit?
TL: I think I’ll be running with Each One Teach One out of Florida. I’m pretty excited about it.

HSH: You and Austin, huh?
TL: Oh yeah, we make a tough duo. We play really well together.

HSH: With so many good combo guards and wings in your class, where do you feel like you fall in the rankings?
TL: I definitely feel like I’m up there with the best. I’m working hard and getting better all the time and I am really ready to have a big showing on the circuit this season.

HSH: So what’s your ultimate goal for the AAU season?
TL: I’m just trying to have a big summer so I can be in position to make the McDonald’s All-American game. I mean everyone wants to look back and say “I was a McDonald’s All-American.” So that’s what my goal is for the summer. I’m ready to get it started!
